Sirmione

Rode to Sirmione from Desenzano for the day. (about 6 km) Amy had not ridden a bike since Year 6, so it was an experience. You don't have to wear a helmet in Italy. Luckily there was a bikeway  pretty much the whole way so we didn't have to fight the traffic...just the pedestrians.
The castle was built in 1277-1278. They would have a good view of their enemy coming.

Girls trying to lift the draw bridge, note they are standing on it while trying to lift it.  There are two draw bridges the other is shown below.

This is the "selfie of the day" atop the castle.
Amy ordered pizza (ham and pineapple...hmmmm!!) for lunch and managed to eat the whole thing without any bother. Think she might be turning Italian.
